Malaysian Tamil school

Saw this information on a chain mail. Very interesting fact to share. I don't know who the author is, but I have to salute him/her for  mind blowing facts.

When will we all change? Here are the facts:
1. Why we need
1700 temples for only 3 million Indians in Malaysia ? Its does not makes sense, but we still continue build temple and fight for it.

2. We only have 450 Tamil schools in Malaysia and its getting lesser.
3.
Every Fridays, temples in the cities earn minimum of $500 ($2000 per month), no electricity bill, and no water bill.

4. Tamil school -
$50 per child per year, electricity bill, water bill, teacher's salary and maintenances every month.

5.
Most temples in cities are renovated, air conditioned, and own a beautiful wedding hall.

6. Tamil school was build in 1970's still the same, with broken table and chairs, spoiled fan and lights, buku  pinjaman torned, bad environment for student and teachers.
I have not seen 1 Tamil school with air conditioned except the HM room, if you know 1 please let me know. I will salute the person who builds it.
7.
$2 million Batu Caves Lord Muruga Statue build by Indians with donation money by Indian people, $10 million minimum was spend every year for praying

on Thaipusam by devotes (this is the reason i say the Devotees are worse ignorant person).                                                                                                     8. Why blame government for not allocation fund for Tamil school (is it logic), why can't we just pay $1 for praying and $9 for Tamil School?
9.
$200 minimum spend by Indian Alcoholicans on every weekend for clubbing and entertainment.     10. Run away or ignore when ask for donation of $5 for Tamil School .                                                   11. In every Indian house there will be TV, HI-FI Radio, CD/DVD player and the classic Astro but And No Computer with reason can't afford to have 1.       They have watched the all the latest Tamil movie even it's not out in theater yet.     12. Their children will be in buku pinjaman, no revision book, never or maybe once been to bookstore, never encourage for piano class,

violin class, swimming, even language class other than those offered in school.
13.These are some of the issue that we ignore and still doing it. As some of you have considered Tamil Education is a waste of time,
for the rest of Indians; are we still going to ignore it or make a change?     14.Please don't forget that in the 80's, Chinese schools and Tamil Schools was in same level as Sekolah Jenis  Kebangsaan.
There were more students in Tamil School and  the infrastructure was the same. But today, look at Chinese Schools and compare it with out Tamil Schools, (sigh).
Please take note that Chinese Schools most of it are 100% non-government support.
As we all already know our government trying to the level best to abolish these 2 schools, they dream are coming true for Tamil Schools but not for Chinese Schools.                     15. If you really really have 2 minutes, just have a look at 1 of Chinese Schools near by your house in the morning or after school.                                                                                                         16. You can see their parents will be waiting in their Mercedes, BMW, Toyota , Honda and even motorbike to pick their kids from school back home.        I have never ever seen any Indian parents with their Mercedes or Toyota waiting for their kids outside Tamil School .
But always say we are busy with work, the end empty in bank and pocket.....no money.....
17. Maybe there is as we can't see them.....Invisible....:) .....
Please think.... our Tamil Makkals , Sure....We can MAKE A DIFFERENCE.....................

Give widows a break

Deep in their sorrow of losing husband, our culture makes them as a 'clown' during their husband funeral. With so called our tradition, we decorated them as a bride with flowers and bangles. And on part, we destroy all the decoration on them.
Why are we people doing this? Is this the way to express sorrow? It's not a pleasant to watch.                        To people out there,  please join me and lets bring this awareness to our society. Guys, if you are married, please advice to your wife not to carry on these ritual (everyone is going to die someday...). If you attend any funerals, please advice not to perform this ritual.
Hope we can make a change in our culture.

Tamil and culture crisis

Once upon a time, there was a temple priest lived in a small Kali temple with his kitten pet, named Kaama and a few devotees. Every morning, before he starts off his prayers and pooja, he used to tie Kaama at the temples' veranda, to avoid the prayers being disturbed by the cat. And after the pooja completed, he would release Kaama.
He continued this same activity till one day he passed away. After the funeral, one of the devotee, volunteered to carry on the priest job till a new priest in appointed.
The next morning... 'So, what should we do first?' asked a devotee. 'What are you waiting for?? Find a cat and tie it at veranda! Only then my prayers and pooja will be blessed'

Greetings and welcome to my blog. Before I get started, promise me you won't tell my mum about this blog. She would start yelling me 'Ithu unakku thevai illathe velai!! Yevan kittai yaavuthu adi vaange pore!!' ( It's non of your business!! Someone is goin to wack you up!!). Hehehe..... it's ok, I am used to it.

In every field, we would identify problems, and look into the rootcause of the issue. This is where innovation and solutions will appear. If a businessman doesn't identify his marketing strategy problem, he couldn't resolve it with his  new solution or idea. This is what I am going to write all about... our Tamil community and it's culture problem. Gentle reminder... I will only trace out the rootcause of some major issues. Solutions are from you point of view.

First I would like to talk about religion issue, Hinduism. (I am not a fanatic). Most Tamilans are born Hindu in nature, and some converted later on. What is Hinduism? A religion should strength our personality growth, not only spiritual growth. Does our religion did that? The answer is YES, IT DOES. But how many of us really knew about it? Not many... including myself.

WHY?

Cause my culture made me so. Confuse??? We tend follow our culture blindfully. We accept everything our ancestors told. We set our mind to only one particular path.
Allow me to say that there are no any 'RIGHT' or 'WRONG' statement in this world. It's all depends on your experience with the world. If you ask virgin girl if making sex with multiple partners is right, she would argue. But if you ask a prostitute, she would agree. And if you think I am talking bad right now, you are wrong, from my point of view. :-) Prostitution is one of the earliest business carried out, so I do respect it.
Ok, lets get back to our topic....
Talking about our mind set, we are corrupted with many myth stories about Hinduism, which we carry out within our heart and pass it to our next generation. For example?? Many GODs theory, Adam and Eve (Indian version), ghost, black magic, superstitions, etc are being fed in during our childhood time. No proper explanation. We see and believe. If we note carefully, the childs' logical part of the brain is slowly being covered up. This is true. Thats the reason why most of our children couldn't cope with science and maths (not all, as some are able to twist according to their environment and self thinking). Even there are scientific theory behind the 'many deities theory'... who cares. You want good education , pray to Sarawathy. You want prosperity, pray to Letchumy. They don't understand both are the same with only different characters, just as you being a son/daughter to your parents, a wife/husband to you partner... but you are you! And there will be a fight on which deity is the greatest.
Another example is, lets move on to your early education period. I was taught 'A' is for Apple. Am I saying that 'A' is only for Apple? i dont think so. But, during my early education period, I believe that A is only for apple (.. sigh... how stupid am I..). This is a same example of our religion believe. We tend to stuck in the initial part and doesn't move out to explore more.

WHY?

Getting back to square one, we were mold to believe it and shut off our logical thinking.
Since my logical part of the brain is not functioning properly (hehe....), how would I grow my personalities? Do you think I will get to know about Vivekananda? Or Abdul Kallam? Or Thiruvalluvar and Albert Einstein? No way! Then whom should I follow as a role model?
Welcome to Tamil cinema world!! I see many great legends. Personally, I met many 'clones' of this fantastic heros' in real life. My clones never copy the personality of the star, but based on their character on certain movies.
I am not condemning my Tamil cinema. I am a serious fan of Tamil film industry. The actors are just playing their role.
Looking into Tamil cinema, 80% of the output are 'masala' stories, which means, an uneducated guy as hero, falls on first sight of love (which many people believe as true love), fight, help people, describes educated and wealthy people are bad. Our brothers watch these movie (minimum 10 times, trust me!) and 'became' the character! (He needs to get angry all time and search for fight!) What a transformation! You may note their dressing code, walking style and speech. He looks down on any educated person, cause it's like an evil to him. A macho hero is no value without alcohol and smoking habit. So our little brother learns that too (ask him to learn Big Bang theory, he would cry).

WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?

I would blame our culture. What??!!! Yes. Our Tamil culture is not static. It too has revolution. Far back 500 years ago, a widow is forced to jump into her husband burial. Does it happens now? It's not evolving, it had been revolved!
Another example, about profession. We tend to look down on professions such as barbers and laundry man (dhoby). Some even restrict these professions to walk into their home (yes, It happens in Malaysia es well). As our culture looks down at them, they too have low personal value. Their child might feel shy to say that her father is a barber. But look at western countries. They are having hair dressing institutions man!!! Hair stylist are demand in Italy!! Do you know that a barber from San Diego invented hair shampoo? Our people had been doing this job far more longer than westerners, and what we achieve?

WHY?

Getting back to square one, it's our culture. Its time to change some major part of our culture. We can now still see that during the funeral of a husband, his wife is decorated as a groom, then forced to break her bangles and take off 'pottu' from her forehead. What is this man?? This happened to my mother. And I don't wish this to happen to any other Tamil woman. What should I do? I need advice from patient readers like you. As I mentioned earlier, I am not giving any solutions, just highlighted our rootcause.

Gentle reminder... please don't tell my mum  :-)
